What to Expect at Your Dental Implants Appointment

At Impact Dentistry, your journey to a beautiful smile begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. Lim. During this visit, Dr. Lim will assess your oral health, discuss your treatment goals, and determine if dental implants are the right solution for you. At this time, we’ll also discuss payment options and estimated insurance coverage; be sure to ask about our private membership plan.

Next comes your implant placement procedure. This is typically performed under local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Dr. Lim will carefully insert the titanium implant into the jawbone. Over the next few months, the implant will naturally integrate with the bone, creating a strong foundation for the restoration of your choice.

Once the osseointegration process is complete, we will install a special connector called an abutment and then the final crown. Dr. Lim uses 3D CBCT scanning will capture meticulous records of your teeth and bone anatomy to ensure the best possible treatment experience.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Enhanced Aesthetics

Dental implants blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, enhancing your smile's appearance and boosting your self-confidence.

Improved Oral Function

With dental implants, you can eat and speak with ease, just as you would with your natural teeth. They provide a stable chewing surface, allowing you to enjoy all your favorite foods.

Strength and Facial Preservation

Missing teeth cause the underlying bone to resorb or deteriorate. Dental implants stimulate the bone, preventing bone loss and maintaining the youthful look of your facial structure.

Long-Lasting Solution

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last for the rest of your life, making them a cost-effective investment in your oral health.

No Damage to Adjacent Teeth

Dental implants do not require support from adjacent teeth. Nor do we have to alter the shape of neighboring teeth, like we do with dental bridges. This means your neighboring healthy teeth remain untouched and fully intact.

Dental Implants FAQs

  • Are dental implants painful?

The implant placement procedure is performed under anesthesia and is generally painless. However, some mild discomfort or swelling may be normal. As a minimally invasive surgery, we can also offer sedation during your implant installation.

  • How long do dental implants last?

With good oral hygiene (flossing each day is crucial) and regular dental check-ups, dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime.

  • Am I a suitable candidate for dental implants?

Most people with missing teeth can be candidates for dental implants, but a thorough dental examination and CBCT scan are necessary to determine your eligibility. Be sure to let Dr. Lim know if you’re taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications.

  • How do I care for dental implants?

Dental implants require the same daily care routine as natural teeth: regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential to maintain their longevity.
